With immediate effect, Environmental Product Declaration sheets (EPDs) are available for almost all MasterTop v flooring products from BASF. BASF is thus the first manufacturer of polyurethane and epoxy floor covering systems to publish EPDs. These declarations contain environmental information about the product and its environmental impact.
EPDs play an increasingly important part in sustainable building activities which are becoming more and more important – LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design by the U.S. Green Building Council) and DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen; German Society for Sustainable Building) are just two of the popular building certification standards that provide guidance in this regard. EPDs are already required for DGNB approvals.
The Environmental Product Declaration sheets for MasterTop ® flooring products are based on so called sample EPDs which have been developed and provided by the FA5 expert committee for plastics in concrete construction of Deutsche Bauchemie (German Construction Chemicals association). These sample EPDs are in accordance with the standards DIN EN 15804 and DIN EN ISO 14025. They refer to specific product categories and so enable a comparison between products with the same function, for example reactive resin products in the case of MasterTop ® products. The sample EPDs were adjusted and refined by BASF, then reviewed, approved and published by the Institut Bauen und Umwelt (Institute of Construction and Environment).
The Environmental Product Declaration Sheets for MasterTop ® flooring products are available in the download area of the website https://www.basf.com/in/en.html.
