Michael Baker Awarded Construction Inspection Contract by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation, has been chosen by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), District 05, to provide construction inspection services on a district-wide, on-call contract for highway and bridge construction projects in Bullitt, Franklin, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties surrounding Louisville.

Under this two-year, $4.0 million contract, Baker will provide certified inspectors for use by the five Section Engineers in District 05. These inspectors will perform typical inspection duties and may also assist with maintenance functions such as preparing estimates and performing material inventories. Inspectors may assist KYTC employees on projects or be the lead inspector on others. The Section Engineer will utilize Baker inspectors as if they work directly for the Cabinet.

“We appreciate the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s confidence in Baker and selecting us for our first-ever inspection contract in the state,” said James B. Williams, vice president and Louisville office principal. “This is a significant step in broadening Baker’s experience base with the KYTC and being recognized locally as a full-service engineering firm.”
