Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation, has been awarded a two-year, $2.289 million contract by the Eastside Limited Partnership (ESIII), in conjunction with the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Port Authority of Allegheny County on the East Liberty Transit Center/Transit Oriented Development Project in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The project will transform an aging transit station into a modern multi-modal transit center that will become the hub in a several-hundred-million-dollar transit-oriented development comprised of new housing and retail opportunities in the East Liberty neighborhood.
Baker will provide construction management services on this project, including constructability reviews, project scheduling, bid and award phase services, construction inspection, design support and project closeout services.
“We are extremely pleased to have been selected for this special project that will continue the revitalization of the East Liberty neighborhood in the City, while significantly improving the transit experience for the Port Authority and their customers,” said Tom Zagorski, P.E., senior vice president and national director of Baker’s Construction Services. “We look forward to working with our partners at ESIII, the URA and Port Authority, and coordinating with the local community and other project stakeholders to make this a very successful project.”
