Angie's List, the national consumer review service, is releasing two new online tools today that help homeowners plan their next remodeling project, prevent costly repairs and troubleshoot common problems without wasting unnecessary time and money.
The Angie’s List Project Center is a powerful virtual design hub that allows current and aspiring homeowners to pick from a wide variety of model homes or upload their own homes and make custom exterior design choices from a number of materials and colors.
Want to see what your house would look like if you covered your grey brick exterior with light blue aluminum Siding? Or maybe you just want to see if that bright red door you always wanted will look as good on your house as it does in your imagination? The Angie’s List Project Center lets you experiment with home design without spending a dime. The free online tool will continue to expand its design functions to other areas of the home, including interior spaces.
Alongside the Project Center, Angie’s List is releasing its 2013 Homeowner’s Guide, the service’s most complete guide to home maintenance for today’s savvy homeowner.
From the basement to the roof, the 2013 Homeowner’s Guide from Angie’s List provides step-by-step details on how homeowners can DIY their way through every home improvement situation, whether it’s installing new ceramic tile in the bathroom or removing a dead tree in the yard. The guide also answers the big question in every homeowner’s mind: When does it pay to hire, and how do I know which professionals are actually worth it?
“We believe that reliable know-how is the homeowner’s most powerful tool, and we’ve been working for nearly two decades to make sure homeowners have access to helpful planning tools and important, trustworthy details about the services they need for their home,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “We know few things are more important than protecting your family and investments, and we’ve created these tools with the goal of helping homeowners do just that.”
Another way Angie’s List is keeping consumers updated on the latest tips and advice is through its Angie’s List Experts program which invites experts in every trade to share articles with helpful information that consumers should know before making a decision.
The first-ever Angie’s List Experts article contest received an extremely impressive amount of Angie’s List Experts contributions from hundreds of qualified contributors. Selecting the grand prize winner was difficult given the high quality, but in the end, the Angie’s List panel of judges selected one highly rated Angie’s List service company’s entry that stood out from the pack: Grand Prize Winner, $1,000: “It’s Not an Estimate, It’s an Interview,” by Thomas Scribbins, owner of Accent Roofing in Lawrenceville, Ga. Scribbins’ article guides the homeowner through the process of obtaining estimates for what many consider one of their biggest home repair investments: a new roof. While much information exists on this topic, Scribbins added new advice and information in a distinct and original voice.
