A revolutionary coating which can protect town centres and other places from the unsightly scourge of graffiti will be on display in the new Painting & Coating Zone at Interbuild 2006.
Developed by Nottingham-based Graffiti Magic, which is also the name of the product, the coating allows graffiti to be easily washed off by using soap and water.
Perry Wilsher, the owner of Graffiti Magic, said: "The coating has two main benefits - it's quicker and easier and that means whoever is doing the cleaning does not have to use hazardous substances to clean off the graffiti.
"This new product will revolutionise the protection of all exterior surfaces from the most decorative stone to plain bricks and fencing.
"Another version of this coating - called Poster Magic - resists flyposting, will also be shown at the exhibition. Flyposters can be stuck to walls but when the adhesive dries they will fall off."
The move to give Painting & Coating its own zone for the first time at the UK's premier building and construction event, which takes place at the NEC from April 23-27, has been warmly welcomed across the trade.
Mike Keep, a director of Painting Today and one of the organisers of the new area at Interbuild 2006, said: "It's a great opportunity for our section of the industry to raise its profile. "The zone will feature all the latest developments, including things which many people do not realise are possible. By taking them to Interbuild they will get a much higher profile within the industry because the show attracts such a wide spectrum of visitors.
"Although the zone will showcase developments in colour and the aesthetic appeal of different paints and coatings, it is primarily about functionality and coatings with a really practical purpose.
"We are expecting the major companies from the sector to be at Interbuild 2006 but the zone is as just much about the small innovative companies who are really pushing the industry forward."
Graffiti Magic comes into that category and Perry added: "Interbuild offers us a perfect platform for demonstrating our products to a wide cross-section of construction people and we're really keen to gauge the reaction to our new coatings."
Among the leading painting and coating companies already committed to exhibit at the zone are Igoe International, Seddon and Lion Industries.
