Rebuilding Together, a Safe and Healthy Housing organization that believes Community Starts at Home, is working with Choice Hotels International to renovate a U.S. VETS facility. U.S. VETS is the nation's largest nonprofit provider of comprehensive services to homeless and at-risk veterans.
Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun and Choice Hotels volunteers will provide free critical repairs so U.S. VETS can continue to give back to those who have given so much for our country. Volunteers will install new stairs to the front of the building, landscape the grounds, repaint the parking lot, install vinyl flooring, assemble furniture, install shelving, and paint a mural.
U.S. VETS provides homeless and at risk veterans with case management, employment assistance, job placement and counseling. Every day, they care for 2,000 veterans in their drug and alcohol free housing facilities. The U.S. VETS Phoenix affiliate operates two service locations. Their headquarters provides initial support services and their second location is a transitional housing program for veterans that have completed the initial program.
"Choice Hotels has been a tremendous supporter of Rebuilding Together. Over the years, their support has allowed us to renovate more than 60 homes and community centers across the country, impacting so many of our neighbors in-need," said John Fiegel , interim president and CEO of Rebuilding Together. "We are dedicated to ensuring that our veterans can return to a safe and healthy home, which is why U.S. VETS is an incredibly deserving community center."
John F. Scott II , Executive Director of U.S. VETS-Phoenix, also shared his gratitude for Choice Hotels and Rebuilding Together. "We appreciate all the help that Choice Hotels and Rebuilding Together will be providing for our Veteran community, this work will be the finishing touches needed to create a community where the residents are proud to call home!"
"Choice Hotels and Rebuilding Together have worked together for many years on so many great projects," said Steve Joyce, President and CEO, Choice Hotels International. "This project in particular, allows us to give back to the courageous and heroic veterans that put their lives on the line for our country, really drives home the impact each individual can have on another person's life. I speak for all of us in saying we couldn't be prouder to join in this effort."
