Tower General Contractors, the largest minority-owned general contractor in Los Angeles County, announced today that it has been selected by the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (SCLARC) for the construction of its new headquarters, a ground-up, 80,000 square foot building located at 2500 South Western Avenue.
Tower will also be renovating the historic Golden State Mutual Insurance Company Building, a 57,000 square foot building located at 2500 South Western Avenue, which will be used as office space by SCLARC. The Golden State Building is a historic and cultural monument in Los Angeles and was designed by African American Architect Paul Revere Williams, who also designed the LAX Theme Building that Tower renovated in 2010. Construction on these projects, which together total $25 million, is slated to begin in May 2013.
"We're honored to have been selected for this project by the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center, which continues to be an important and positive influence on the community," said Alex Guerrero, Executive Vice President of Tower General Contractors. "We're also pleased to be working on another Paul Revere Williams building. Our expertise in historic preservation, including renovations on the legendary Gibson Amphitheatre and the Beverly Hills City Hall Building, makes us well-suited for these projects and we look forward to beginning construction."
