KH Fair 2013 to Feature Latest Building and Construction Innovations

The 28th Kyunghyang Housing Fair (KH Fair 2013) will be held on February 20-24, 2013 at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

The exhibition will feature 46 themes related to the latest construction and housing trends, including exterior and interior materials, coating materials, construction equipment and electric equipment. Launched in 1986, KH Fair is the nation's largest and oldest housing exhibition with participation from more than 600 exhibitors from home and abroad. Special exhibitions, seminars and events are to be held during the fair.

A variety of special exhibitions will be held with different themes, such as 'good indoor air quality' (together with the Ministry of Environment), 'a look at the increasing number of single-person households,' 'modular houses' (transported to the construction site 80-90% complete), 'hanok' (traditional Korean homes which are built and renovated to fit modern life while maintaining its sheer beauty), and 'energy-efficient windows and doors' (in line with the growing interest toward high-performance windows and doors).

Special events will include the '3rd Green Housing Technology & New Building Material Development Award' (the first construction and engineering industry award in Korea) that will be held as part of the opening ceremony and the '2013 Earth Architecture Design Award.'

Seminars will touch upon various topics, such as 'understanding housing construction standards' (hosted by the Ministry of Land, Transport & Maritime Affairs), 'energy efficiency rating of windows and doors' (hosted by the Korea Institute of Construction Technology) and 'home LED lighting solutions for design and interior experts (from LED lighting to control).' Others include the 'Korea Fire-rating Building Material Association Seminar,' '2013/2014 KCC Design Trend Seminar,' and 'Claudio Bellini Design Seminar.'

Architect Gary Chang has been invited to give a lecture. The globally renowned architect is best known for using apartment spaces to create different layouts which he named "Domestic Transformer." Other scholars from the Georgia Institute of Technology have been invited to attend seminars on 'zero energy house' and 'dangers of computers in structural engineering.'
