Kubota Tractor Corporation increases focus on the construction market as evident at the World of Concrete tradeshow this month where the company unveiled three new excavator models and upgraded several other lines of popular construction equipment. The new lineup includes the KX040-4 and KX018-4 compact excavators and the U35-4 tight tail swing compact excavator.
“Upgrade, innovate and expand are three words that describe Kubota’s approach to the construction market in 2013,” says Ted Pederson, vice president of construction equipment and northern division for Kubota Tractor Corporation. “Our increased emphasis in the construction market is a natural fit for Kubota’s strategic growth plan and stems from our parent company’s successful worldwide focus on excavators – and that emphasis is demonstrated today at World of Concrete with the introduction of not one, but three new, powerful excavators.”
“And it doesn’t stop here,” adds Keith Rohrbacker, construction equipment product manager for Kubota. “In addition to these new models, Kubota has upgraded several of our existing lines to include Tier IV engines, improved serviceability, and updated and repositioned control panels for greater ease of use. From excavators to newly introduced compact track loaders, we have a lot of exciting equipment planned for showroom floors this year that is sure to energize our 1,100-strong dealer organization.”
KX040-4: Kubota’s Most Popular Series Introduces New Model Featuring “Eco-Plus” Mode
Kubota’s new four-ton KX040-4 packs superior performance, versatility and comfort into one compact machine. This new excavator leads the pack this year and replaces the KX121-3, Kubota’s single most popular model. The KX040-4 prioritizes the economy and supports the environment with its “Eco Plus” system, giving operators the option of “eco mode” for up to 20 percent less fuel consumption than prior models. For applications that require full power, operators can switch to standard mode and still experience improved efficiency and lower fuel consumption.
The KX040-4 also boasts auto downshift travel motors, which shift automatically to improve productivity; operators will benefit from smooth turns and faster backfilling. The KX040-4 has a 42.4 gross horsepower engine, a dumping height of 12 feet 9.5 inches and a digging depth of 11 feet 2.6 inches. Kubota’s KX040-4 is ideal for contractors looking for 5-ton features in a 4-ton machine. Operators will enjoy a top-of-the-line deluxe interior that rivals larger models with a spacious air-conditioned cab, wide entrance, fully flat floor, deluxe suspension seat, and an easy access up-front control panel. Other features include a Tier IV certified Kubota engine, an automatic regeneration system, and the popular angle dozer blade option, which speeds up finish work and features a float function and bolt-on cutting edges.
U35-4 Tight Tail Swing Compact Excavator: 5-Ton Cab on a 3.5-Ton Machine
Kubota’s U35-4 tight tail swing compact excavator offers a new class of comfort and luxury in even the most confined work spaces. The U35-4 is equipped with the same spacious cab as a larger 5-ton excavator; the roomy cab features a larger entrance, deluxe suspension seat, air conditioning, easy-open front slide window, ample legroom, new digital panel and enhanced ergonomics for optimal operator comfort. Adding and removing attachments is easier than ever: the U35-4 features an auxiliary 1 diverter valve that allows operators to leave the thumb attached and connect other hydraulic attachments to a second port. Powered by a Kubota 24.8 gross horsepower direct injection engine and boasting a max dumping height of 11 feet .7 inches and digging depth of 9 feet 8.9 inches, the U35-4 truly combines comfort with performance.
