Tremco Incorporated, a developer and manufacturer of commercial roofing and weatherproofing products, announces the launch of a new product, the BURmastic Rock-It System ahead of the revised California Title 24 Energy Efficiency Standards that take effect on October 1, 2005. The BURmastic Rock-It System is the first and only cold-process, white- gravel, whiteadhesive surfacing system for built up and modified bitumen roofs, and fully complies with the Title 24 energy standards. The BURmastic Rock-It System is an immediate solution for building owners and facility managers to comply with California’s new energy requirements standard for non-residential facilities while providing the benefits of a gravel roof system. The Rock-It System can be used on new roofs, retrofit roof projects, and replacement roofs.
As a white adhesive / white gravel roof system, the advantage of the Rock-It System is that it combines the benefits of a cold-applied flood and gravel surfacing, which includes fire resistance and proven durable protection with the benefits of a cool roof’s highly reflective surface to reduce air conditioning loads and reduced roof system heating and cooling cycle.
The Cool Roof Rating Council recognizes the BURmastic Rock-It System as a ‘cool roof’, which is defined as providing a 70% minimum solar reflectance and a 75% minimum heat emittance, which meet the revised Title 24 energy code requirements.
Tremco also offers a white paper for building owners and facility managers that highlights important aspects of the new Title 24 energy standards and how these new standards affect residential and non-residential buildings in the State of California. The white paper can be viewed at the Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance Division’s web site home page, www.tremcoroofing.com, under “What’s New?”
