Small Scale Wind Power For Buildings

A new publication, Small scale, building integrated, wind power systems summarises many of the latest developments and issues for those interested in the use of wind to generate power in buildings and communities.

It draws on the findings of a conference and exhibition on small-scale and building-integrated wind power hosted by BRE and the British Wind Energy Association earlier this year. There have been many developments in small-scale generator technology in recent years, and a marked increase in its use by the growing number of people and organisations wishing to have their own source of green energy. A range of different technologies being developed can generate varying percentages of a building's energy consumption, depending on the option chosen and the wind speed characteristics of the site.

The new publication is designed to help architects, distribution network operators, housing developers, energy agencies and local authorities keep up with what's happening in wind power legislation, technology, and issues such as metering and planning.

Small scale, building integrated, wind power systems (ref: IP12/05) is available from BRE Bookshop (www.brebookshop.com) at a cost of £9.00.
