YKK AP America, the leader in manufacturing high quality architectural products, today announced that its Thermashade system, part of its enerGfacade® product line, has been incorporated into the Mill Valley Green Home – located just outside San Francisco.
Built to integrate the most cutting edge green products and design, Mill Valley was designed to meet LEED Platinum certification. The Thermashade sun control system was selected for its aesthetically pleasing and smart design that reduces solar heat gain, reducing energy consumption and utility costs.
YKK AP’s Thermashade system is the industry’s only sunshade system to utilize a thermal barrier into its design in order to meet sustainability goals of the most demanding projects, including those at Mill Valley. The thermal barrier is also featured within the attachment anchor, making it the only Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM sunshade system to do so. The Thermashade system’s pre-engineered solutions, with over 100 configurations, provide design flexibility to cut down on the time required for delivery and installation.
“The Mill Valley Green Home is a great example of what residential structures can strive for with their green initiatives,” said Mike Turner, vice president of marketing at YKK AP America. “The Thermashade system’s innovative and award-winning design was a perfect choice for this notable project.”
San Francisco is often considered to be the green building capital of the world and Mill Valley is a prime example of the type of innovation that is occurring in the cleantech industry. YKK AP will feature its work with Mill Valley, and showcase its award-winning products, at this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in San Francisco, November 14 – 16, in booth number 813s.
