Pactiv Building Products has launched GreenGuard extruded polystyrene (XPS) PLYGOOD R-2 protective sheathing. This sheathing is an economical way of meeting the wall insulation stipulations of the 2009 International Energy Code (IECC).
The PLYGOOD R-2 protective sheathing when layered as continuous insulation (ci) on oriented standard board (OSB) is the best economical option to meet the stipulations of 2009 IECC in climate zones 5ƒ{6 and marine 4 of the US.
David DeWulf, Director of Marketing, Strategic Growth and Sustainability, pointed out the constant need for proper insulation of building walls that reduces accumulation of moisture in sensitive wall areas, increases R-value of walls and lessens thermal breaks, and according to him, PLYGOOD R-2 does that admirably.
GreenGuard PLYGOOD R-2 is an extruded polystyrene board with a polystyrene foam center and strong plastic film facers. R-2 sheathing being 7/16¡¨ thick is available in two dimensions. The methods adopted to meet the 2009 IECC stipulations are distinctive to climate zones and would probably have the option of cavity wall insulations as well as external wall insulations. The quantity of exterior or cavity wall insulation would be determined by the climate zone and the construction method.
GreenGuard materials enhance the energy efficiency and strength of buildings. The sustainability goal of the products helps builders and contractors to obtain green corroboration with optimal use of materials, best construction habits, and increased power savings.
