Hub Group has started work on the new 130,000-square-foot headquarters located at Oak Brook, III. Morgan / Harbour Construction is in charge of the construction of this four-story structure that is aiming for a LEED Gold certification and is expected to be completed in late 2013.
Hub Group is a light freight transportation organization that offers complete intermodal, truck brokerage, and logistic services and has assets of around $2.8 billion. The publicly traded organization is one of the top 50 in the Chicago region that is recognized as the transportation center of North America and has an employee base of 1600 functioning in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The organization is shifting its headquarters with over 500 employees from Downers Grove.
David P. Yeager, Chairman and CEO of the Hub Group and also the son of the company’s founder, mentioned that the move is a crucial event in the organization’s 41-year history. He pointed out the development made by the company so far and promises more of it in the future with the moving of the headquarters to Oak Brook. He extolled the benefits of the new location, where the locals are hard workers who help in the development of the community. He added that the new building will underline the company’s idea of sustainability. Attributes such as effective HVAC, energy-efficient lighting fixtures, and facilities for storm water harvesting will definitely earn a LEED Gold authentication for the project.
The 17-acre site is at the Tech corridor located at 2000 Clear Water Drive, Oak Brook, and will be surrounded by a natural environment, including walking trails and ponds.
