TangerFactory Outlet Centers in Gonzales, Louisiana is undergoing expansion and refurbishing operations. The venture will cost $8 million and will extend the existing center by 50,000 sq. ft.
Gonzales will be beautified with new landscaping and will have additional customer parking space. Many renowned brands will open new outlets in the premises around March 2013. When the project is finished, Tanger Outlets Gonzales will possess 322,000 sq. ft. of rentable area and showcase more than 60 brand and designer outlet shops. The project will provide job opportunities for about 70 persons during construction and on completion will offer various part-time and full-time retail jobs for the locals.
Retail marketing after the expansion and renovation is expected to rake in about $15 million in sales revenue. Subsequent to the havoc created by Hurricane Katrina during 2005 in the Gulf Coast, the city of Gonzales and the Baton Rouge region gave shelter to affected people escaping from New Orleans. The current expansion program of Tanger is testament to the organization’s faith in the economic development potential in Gonzales, Baton Rouge and New Orleans regions. Proving this faith, Tanger invested about $10 million in the expansion and renovation of the current center which had opened in 1993.
While recovering from the hurricane, Baton Rouge and Gonzales’ Ascension Parish has seen a spurt in population well beyond what was envisaged. This spurt has paved the way for substantial growth in residential and business segments, especially along the highly used Interstate 10, which is right next to Tanger Outlet Center Gonzales. The steady growth of traffic and economic development in the region will provide this Tanger outlet with a steady flow of customers.
