Moose Jaw residents now have the option to rent reasonably priced residences, thanks to the combined efforts of Blanchard Holdings together with the Government of Canada and the Saskatchewan province, who have completed groundbreaking on a new housing development in the region.
The venture is situated at 52 Maple Street East and will be composed of 28 rentable row-style houses, of which 14 are two-bedroom walkout basement units and 14 are units with three bedrooms on two floors. Certain government officials believe that all Canadians require stable and safe homes and the government is committed to making this dream a reality in cooperation with territories and provinces, besides also providing avenues for financial growth.
The price of the entire undertaking is $3.9 million. The province, via Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, is providing $2.6 million from the provincial/federal Investment in Affordable Housing 2011ƒ{2014 Agreement to this venture. Blanchard Holdings is contributing the remainder of approximately $1.2 million.
The President of Blanchard Holdings, Jon Blanchard expressed pride in being a participant in the undertaking and re-iterated that the 28 dwellings would meet the highest Canadian energy stipulations and would be affordable to rent and maintain. He credits the Government of Canada and the province of Saskatchewen for providing finance to make this possible. This funding was helped by the $55 million allotted for Investment in Affordable Housing 2011ƒ{2014 Agreement by the co-operation of the Government of Canada and the province of Saskatchewen. The province would utilize this fund to procure new affordable houses and also refurbish existing old houses for people in the neighbourhood. This would help many persons in the region with various difficulties.
