Fixtures Living, a provider of lifestyle goods for residences, has received LEED SILVER Green Building Certification for its store in Costa Mesa, CA.
The LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is an independent verification about establishing that a building project does not only exhibit environmental responsibility but also is a healthy and profitable live and work area. The USGBC will be awarding the official LEED Plaque at a "Green Home Showcase" meeting scheduled to be held on July 26 at the Costa Mesa store.
Fixtures Living's Costa Mesa store was opened in September. The 25,000 sq. ft. store contains innovative creative studios, design showrooms and retailers. The store had partnered with FITCH, to achieve a unique space that facilitates visitors to interact with lifestyle products.
The CEO of Fixtures Living, Jeffery R. Sears stated that the store strives to display the best of green products, design and practice. The costs incurred due to the green initiative do not affect the customer.
Materials that reduce energy consumption and emissions were used for the Costa Mesa store. During construction, reduced water usage and increased ventilation were part of employing environmentally-friendly techniques. These techniques have helped the store minimize any affect that it may have on the environment.
Fixtures Living's Costa Mesa store achieved a 30% increase in ventilation and a 30% reduction in water usage. These factors were mentioned in the LEED certification. Further, the store received recognition in the categories of community connectivity and development density.
