The inauguration of Le Chalet de La Broquerie, a 24-apartment complex for elderly citizens in La Broquerie, was celebrated by the governments of Canada and Manitoba.
Certain prominent government officials reckon that by financing such ventures, the government, via Canada’s Economic Action Plan, aids in strengthening the regional financial conditions by generating employment prospects, thereby paving the way for the region to thrive in the long run, besides providing elder citizens safe, economical and superior homes. The project offers support to the elderly residents by way of various special facilities. Half of the apartments are rented out to people based on their earnings.
The residential complex promoted by Le Chalet de La Broquerie has a federal and provincial funding of more than 4.9 million dollars. The federal financing was done via Canada’s Economic Action Plan. A total funding of $176 million dollars was made equally by the federal and provincial governments in an endeavour to boost the region’s financial status and generate new employment. With the help of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the Canadian government proposes to contribute over $2 billion dollars towards residential projects during the current year, of which $1.7 billion dollars are expected to go to the aid of those currently living in community dwellings. These measures will go a long way in benefiting people with low earnings as well as elderly citizens, those with disabilities, immigrants, etc.
By way of the HOMEWorks! plan, which upholds the All Aboard program, and with funding from the Canadian government, Manitoba is expected to provide economical and quality housing to low-income Manitobans.
