The Arista Data Centers intend to set up a $210 million data centre campus in Pflugerville. This was announced by the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC).
The new data center campus will cover an area of 500,000 sq. ft and will consist of four to six buildings in Pflugerville. This project is expected to create 170 jobs over the next 10 years with an annual salary of $67,500 each along with medical benefits.
According to Angelou Economics, which is the site selection client for Arista Data Center, there are four major reasons as to why Pflugerville was chosen as the site. One of the main reasons is that Pflugerville is a deregulated electric market and secondly its electric infrastructure is situated close to the dual feed electric capability. The third reason is that the site has very good telecom infrastructure with fiber providers and fourthly the location is very friendly to new businesses and ventures.
PCDC has the ability to provide funds that are 4B money generated from half cent of the city’s sales tax revenue. These funds can also be used for the construction of drainage projects, roads and other utilities. The city is located south of Round Rock and 16 miles northeast to Austin, and situated in a growing region. State highways 45 and 130 provide additional connectivity and direct access to other adjacent cities and the main airport in the region.
