AECOM Technology, a company that provides technical and management support services to clients of public and private sectors in over 130 countries across the globe, has announced that it is a member of a consortium, which has recently secured a US$555-million construction contract for Australia’s public transportation project in Victoria. Revenue of US$19.5 million is likely to be generated by AECOM’s participation in delivering the contract.
AECOM will provide civil infrastructure, signaling, electrical, structural and rail design in addition to environmental management, waterway modeling and geotechnical services for the rail link project, which operates from Southern Cross Station of Melbourne to the Maribyrnong River till February 2015.
AECOM’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, John M. Dionisio said that the company is excited to be a part of this project and will eliminate the bottlenecks existing in the rail network by separating regional and metropolitan tracks.
The planning and designing work for the project will start immediately, whereas the project’s major construction is expected to be completed by February 2015. The overall regional rail link is likely to be completed in early 2016. AECOM’s contribution in this project is expected to end up by February 2015.
The regional rail link is a major rail line project at metropolitan Melbourne in 80 years and is currently the largest public-transportation project in Australia.
AECOM is a part of a consortium that has partnered with Regional Rail Link Authority, V/Line and Metro Trains Melbourne to deliver the project.
