Hyatt Hotels has announced that it has broken ground for the construction of the first Hyatt brand hotel in Omaha’s Old Market, Nebraska.
The affiliates of Hyatt will provide a total investment of $27 million and will also be responsible for the purchase of the land and the construction of the hotel which will be owned and managed by them. After the inauguration the Hotel is expected to create 50 full time jobs in Omaha.
Hyatt Place Downtown/Old Market will consist of ten stories and 159 rooms along with parking and will be located at the northwest corner of Jackson Street and 12thstreet. The hotel has been designed by the DLR Group and will be located within the Omaha Arts and entertainment centre which contains corporate meeting spaces, shopping facilities and fine dining restaurants. Hawkins Construction is the general contractor for the project and the development is being supervised by Woodbine Development. The President of Greater Omaha Chamber David.G. Brown has stated that the addition of Hyatt Place hotel to the Old Market is proof of the strong economy of the area and the appeal it has.
Omaha is already the venue for the Worldwide Reservation Centre for all Hyatt brands around the world. The reservation centre now provides assistance throughout the year in terms of sales support, customer service and reservation. The US houses 167 Hyatt place hotels and an additional 35 projects have been announced across Europe, China, Middle East, Latin America, Southwest Asia and the US.
