Lauren Engineers & Constructors (LEC) was recently chosen by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for the Excellence in Construction Award, a highly competitive award that is presented every year to certain projects that focus on quality, safety and project innovation.
Bill Anderson, President, ABC of Georgia, said that the Excellence in Construction (EIC) program highlights the team work of ABC members to develop successful and safe projects within the scheduled time and budget.
According to ABC, the construction team, including engineers, architects, contractors, owners and others, is recognized by the EIC program for the innovation, quality and vision of the project. As there is a heavy competition among the projects of general and specialty contractors, the entries were selected based on a number of criteria such as attractiveness, complexity, completion time, unusual challenges, workmanship, safety, budget and innovation. Projects with the highest ratings were given an Award of Excellence, and projects that scored fewer points but perceived extraordinary by the judges were given an Award of Merit.
Lauren Engineers & Constructors was selected for the Excellence in Construction Award on the basis of its contribution as the EPC contractor in FPL’s Martin Solar Energy Center. This project is the first Solar Hybrid project across the globe to connect to a real combined cycle power plant, and was completed in December 2010. The project was completed within the deadline at a cost of $75M, which is under the budget.
