Jacobs Engineering Group recently declared that it has received an In-Kingdom engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract from Sadara Chemical Company, which is a joint venture between The Dow Chemical Company and Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco). The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
This project initiative of Jacobs targets field materials management, construction management, field engineering support, project services support for the three polyethylene trains, management of Lump Sum Procure Build (LSPB) construction contractors, and In-Kingdom procurement services. Jacobs' office located in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia is carrying out this project execution.
This contract is a part of a construction initiative of world scale, fully integrated chemicals complex being currently constructed by Sadara in Saudi Arabia’s Jubail Industrial City. The complex houses 26 manufacturing units and will be the largest building constructed in single phase and one of the largest integrated chemical facilities in the world. First production units will arrive on line during the second half of 2015, and all units will become operational by 2016.
According to Jacobs Group Vice President Mike Coyle, the company is pleased to join the Sadara project. As part of this initiative, Jacobs can efficiently expand its customer service in the Middle East.
