USbased non-profit organisation, Homes for Our Troops which specialises in the construction of customised homes for injured war veterans has announced that it will host a three-day build brigade in Havre de Grace, MD from June 15 to 17, 2012.
This initiative is being undertaken for the construction of a home for Army SSG Kelly Keck. The event will be formally inaugurated with a ceremony on June 15 followed by volunteers coming together to build the first wall of the home.
The focus of the three-day build brigade will be to set up the frame, side and roof of the house along with the doors and windows. The interiors of the home and the remaining finishing will be carried out in the coming months. The home is being constructed for Keck who lost his right leg and underwent grave injuries on his hand when he stepped through an anti-personnel mine during September 13, 2008. Keck is looking for a home, which will provide him with the maximum freedom of movement and at the same time cater to his needs.
Homes for Our Troops is located in Taunton, Mass and was established in the year 2004. The main goal of this organisation is to set up homes for war veterans who are severely injured in the line of duty from September 11, 2001. All the homes are built free of cost through contributions from generous supporters, foundations and corporations. The Charity Navigator has granted the organisation with four stars for its work.
