Sapia Builders has used PVC trim and mouldings from Azek for the renovation of colonial style homes in Old Lyme, CT.
For the purpose of renovation, Sapia Builders removed the old siding and trim and replaced it with Azek’s PVC trim and mouldings, which are similar in appearance to wood.
Sapia Builders used 5 1/2” AZEK Crown Moulding for all the details in the exterior rake. AZEK smaller band crown moulding was used for the rear shed dormer roof overhangs and the historic dormer in the form of a thin vertical band. The remaining portion of the house uses trim details with 1x4 window casing. The team from Sapia Builders also customised the columns and the crown pediment for the front door by fabricating AZEK into their own 12” wide tapered columns along with small band details both at the top and bottom for supporting the large size AZEK crown moulding pediment.
According to officials from Sapia Builders, the company has been using AZEK crown moulding consistently to achieve the historic look for the dormer since it has the right dimensions, roof returns and window pediments along with recessed panels. These measurements are particularly useful when installation has to be done for the second and third floors.
