Take Extra Precautions during National Garage Door Safety Month

With the usage of more and more modern equipment, the American home has changed consistently over the past.

During June's National Garage Door Safety Month, LiftMaster offers tips for ensuring the largest and heaviest moving object in your home -- the garage door -- is safe and secure.

The garage too has undergone a phenomenal change in terms of its functions and usage. Many families in fact use the garage door as their main entrance. At a time when the garage has gained so much significance manufacturers of garage doors and installers are providing follow up tips that can be used for easy maintenance of the garage door. These tips have more importance particularly during the National Garage Door Safety Month.

The level of activity in the garage becomes higher specifically during summer with more and more things being stored inside such as garden supplies, lawn furniture, bicycles and sporting equipment. This is the right time to check the safety and the working order of the garage door.

LiftMaster is providing tips on how to keep your garage safe and clean. All the moving parts of the garage door including steel rollers need to be kept clean and lubricated. Users also need to ensure that the door is spring loaded in the right manner and is able to move freely to determine the balance of the door. Users are also encouraged to be more aware of the weather changes and summer outages since the door is greatly impacted when the overall power to the home is lost. Users are encouraged to prepare themselves for such events by having a battery-powered backup. The garage should also be kept free of oil and grease since they are highly flammable. Adhering to these safety rules can ensure safety to the entire family.
