Azek has announced the launch of AZEK VAST pavers to solve the issue caused by storm water runoff. This product will now be available across the nation through building supply centres and pro lumberyards.
The product has been launched through a partnership between VAST Enterprises and AZEK Building Products. The pavers are made of 95% recycled scrap plastics and tires.
AZEK VAST Pavers can be installed on a new grid system that is faster than regular masonry pavers by three times. These pavers have been designed to reduce rain and storm water runoff and also reduce pollutants found in storm water by filtering rain water in building sites. Upon testing the pavers have demonstrated a filtering rate of more than 450”/h when they are installed with aggregate according to the standards of ASTM D448 No.8. AZEK VAST Pavers are resistant to slip and are manufactured with the help of spacer lugs that have been designed to maintain a space of 0.275” between themselves. Since they are slip resistant, they are more comfortable to the feet than clay or concrete pavers.
The pavers are available in five colours and are stain and scratch resistant. They also weigh lesser than traditional pavers. These pavers can be cut using normal mitter or jigsaw cutters thus eliminating the need to use wet saw or any other masonry. Each 5,000sqft of AZEK VAST Paver contains 2,500 scrap automobile tires and 75,000 plastic containers. This feature results in lesser energy and CO2 emissions as compared to traditional pavers.
