Fire Island Pines has announced that it will renovate the Pavilion Dance Club which was developed by FIP Ventures and designed by New York Architects. The dance club was damaged after fires which occurred during November 2011.
The dance club will consist of two stories of outdoor terrace and will also include a welcome bar which will be a meeting place for visitors and residents. Construction is likely to commence by June after obtaining approval from the Town of Brookhaven.
The design is three dimensional where the public zone of the boardwalk is extended up to the façade of the building. The base of the pavilion contains storefronts, wide staircases, benches. A set of bleachers will be located in the entrance which will also act as a viewing platform, an extended dance floor and a wedding chapel. An internal stair loop will connect the high-tea terrace, the Pavilion club and the bar on the first floor.
FIP is also planning to renovate all of its real estate since it was damaged due to fire. The master plan is being carried out by Blesso and Charles Renfro from the popular design firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The form of the building has been modified in such a manner so that it welcomes the more than 800,000 visitors who come to the Fire Islands. The pool deck, boardwalk and the bulkhead which were also damaged due to the fire have already been repaired by FIP Ventures.
