Intelligent Monitoring Of Concrete Structures

On 18 August 2005, a workshop on Monitoring Instruments and Systems was held at Imperial College. Manufacturers and installers talked about what is available and how it is being used and the delegates were able to inspect the gear and see it in use. This DTI project is nearing the end of the stage which looks at these aspects and is moving forward to examine the tools available to predict life based on monitoring outputs.

This project is a technical study into leading edge monitoring technology, which should assist in predicting the design life of concrete structures and managing their maintenance throughout their life. CIRIA is working on this project in partnership with Imperial College, whose input is being managed by Professor Nick Buenfeld.
