3M has introduced a Filtrete Odor Reduction Filter, which can effectively eliminate all kinds of odors in the home such as tobacco smoke, mildew, pets, cooking and cleaning chemicals and at the same time enhancing the home’s air quality. It is 65 times more effective in odor removal when compared to other carbon filters.
Building biologist, healthy home expert and author Lisa Beres has shared simple solutions to naturally create and maintain a fresh home.
It is normal that forgotten leftovers may result in a bad odor in the fridge. The fridge drawers and shelves must be cleaned using a few drops of natural dish soap to a baking soda bowl till it forms a thick paste. Odors and stains from food will be removed. An open box of baking soda in the fridge will help remove odors and it should be replaced with a fresh box each week.
Ants or other insects can be kept away by setting a line of lemon juice, coffee grinds, cayenne pepper or cinnamon around windows and doors forming a barrier that these little intruders will not be able to past.
Unappealing cooking odors like fish can be prevented from spreading in the home using the Filtrete Odor reduction Filter. The filter is capable of trapping gases and odors passing through the filter, and the home is kept fresh for guests and residents. Candles, synthetic air fresheners will give temporary relief but will not eliminate the odors from the home.
In order to remove the mildew smell from wet towels, they must be washed in hot water with white vinegar. Then an eco-friendly or natural laundry detergent is used for washing. The towels must then be dried at high heat and hung up to completely remove any odors.
