Foundation Armor Products Available to DIY Homeowners and Consumers

Commercial and industrial product lines of Foundation Armor are now accessible to DIY homeowners and consumers. When consumers want to purchase a concrete repair kit or concrete sealer, they often visit local home improvement stores or search the internet to research products and read labels, and eventually they end up with a purchase.

Concrete Sealer

It was found that over 38% of homeowners have made the wrong decision in choosing products. In order to make the right decision easier, Foundation Armor is offering the similar products to their residential, commercial and industrial customers.

There are hundreds of concrete sealers from acrylics and epoxies, to stains and paints, to silicate and latex sealers available on the market. Practically, every sealer can be classified as either a deep penetrating sealer or a surface sealer.

Deep penetrating sealers enter deep into the concrete and they primarily include silicates. Tanya Willette of Foundation Armor said that the company’s concrete sealer needs the applicator to blend the sealer with four parts of warm water. The warm water then spreads the capillaries the concrete that enables the sealer to enter up to 6”. The sealer responds with the free lime to form a crystalline barrier beneath the surface and this barrier immediately halts water and vapors.

Surface sealers are used at the exterior part of the concrete and they include acrylics, epoxies, latexes, paints, polyesters, silanes, siloxanes and stains. They need to be used every 1-5 years and they don’t attach to the concrete. Some surface sealers are mentioned as waterproofing sealers, but they actually don’t halt water or vapors. They catch under the covering of the sealer and apply pressure that ultimately causes the sealer to flake off.

There are various types of concrete cracks and they fall into two categories namely, cracks that don't require structural repair and cracks that require structural repair. Epoxy crack repair solutions are better for cracks that require structural repairs.
