Stone Grenite Series from Saint-Gobain Receives GREENGUARD Certification

The Stone Grenite Series that has been engineered from Saint-Gobain has received the GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification. The product was put through various stringent tests in order before being certified.

Grenite® is a sustainable alternative to materials such as laminates, solid surfaces, quartz and granite

The GREENGUARD certification is awarded by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute which specialises in third-party guidance to materials and office products that are required to have low emission levels. The GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification is awarded to products that fulfil the standards in terms of chemical emissions and help in creating a better environment. The GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification is awarded to products that have very low emissions and are highly sensitive to surroundings where children and other vulnerable population are exposed.

The Grenite offered by the company is a countertop material that has a very high level of resistance to abrasion. This quality makes the product suitable for industries such as education, healthcare, banking, restaurant, entertainment and hospitality. The material is also resistant to flame, non porous in nature, offers a high level of durability and is easy for installation. It serves as an alternative to other countertop materials such as laminates, granite, quartz or solid surfaces. More than 85% of the material can be recycled and this feature makes it eligible for LEED certification that is offered by the USGBC. The material will be available on display at the AIA 2012 National Convention and Design Exposition from May 17 to 19.
