NCC Construction Norway will construct a green office in Oslo for Watrium Eiendom at a cost of SEK255 million. The project will be registered among the projects for the second quarter of 2012 and will commence during the summer.
The office will cover an area of 9,500 m2 with two floors and a parking space over an area of 4,000 m2. The office is in compliance with the “Excellent” rating of BREEAM and has also been designed to meet the “A” energy classification.
Specific energy features include installation of solar cells on the roof, usage of energy wells with heat pumps. All the materials used in the construction of this office are thermally inert which reduces the need for cooling or heat. During the process of project planning, NCC has used the Virtual Design and Construction model under which the various components of a project planning process such as costing, project engineering, purchasing and production scheduling are visualised, integrated and automated through 3D models. The green building project will be carried out as a turnkey project and is likely to be completed by October 2013. According to the District Manager of NCC Construction Norway Marius Tunstad the environmental classifications has led the company to acquire two additional green construction projects within a very short period of time. The company specialises in the construction of offices, roads, civil engineering and houses.
