Construction of Year-Round Winter Test Centre to Begin in Summer 2012

The world’s first year-round winter test centre is being constructed by Test World Oy.

This 30,000m² test centre will cater to the needs of tyre and vehicle manufacturers and sub contractors. The construction will be completed in three phases of which the first phase of construction of the test centre will begin during May 2012 and the site is expected to be operational by the end of 2012. The overall construction is expected to be completed by 2015. According to the President and CEO of Test World Harri Eskelinen winter testing is highly dependent on weather conditions. This test centre will remove such issues since testing is available all year around across any kind of weather.

This test centre will bring sub contracting networks to Finland and will also create opportunities for local companies. This test centre will also enhance innovation and provides access to talented engineers to the largest industries in the world. Test World Oy provides certifications, product testing and approval apart from vehicle testing and tire testing. Most of the company’s operations are carried out in Ivalo during winter where it has two separate testing areas and its main office. It also operates out of Helsinki from where it provides tire approval, certification and product testing services.
