Delta Airlines Commences Expansion of LaGuardia Terminal

Delta Airlines has officially commenced expansion and renovation works at LaGuardia Terminal in New York. The $160 million project includes the installation of a 630 ft connector bridge that will link terminals C and D.

A new Delta Sky Club in Terminal C and expanded security lanes in both terminals are also part of the expansion work. This is the largest such expansion and renovation work that has been undertaken in LaGuardia Airport over the past 40 years. Delta Airlines is also in the process of setting up a domestic terminal at LaGuardia, which will service 26 new cities by July 11.

The new bridge will enable passengers to move between terminals behind security, will facilitate convenient connecting flights and provide easy access to arrival and departure gates. The expansion work is expected to create around 700 new construction jobs. Delta Airlines is also in the process of expanding John.F.Kennedy Airport at New York where the company operates an international hub. Here the company will add nine additional gates to Terminal 4. The Terminal will feature state of the art baggage handling systems and security and custom lanes. The already existing Delta Sky Club at Terminal D will also be expanded. According to the CEO of Delta Richard Anderson, the company has invested a total of $1.4 billion in airport facilities in New York. During spring and summer 2012, Delta will increase its services at LaGuardia airport with 100 new flights after which its total daily flights will increase to 260 between LaGuardia and 60 other cities. The company has also increased frequency for its domestic routes to add nine more cities.
