Construction has commenced at the Bennett Residence, which has been designed by architect Michael F. Gallagher. The construction has been approved by the Town of Breckenridge and is being carried out by Double Diamond Property and Construction Services.
The 15,000 sq.ft residence is being constructed in the Shock Hill neighborhood. According to architect Michael Gallagher and Arnie Surdyk from Double Diamond Property and Construction Services more than 20 subcontractors and 100-150 construction workers will be hired for the construction. Completion of the residence will take a minimum of 20 months.
Amenities in the three story residence include a 2-lane bowling alley, an audiophile listening room, lounge area with fireplace, projection screen TV, game room that features pool, poker, shuffleboard, wine cellar and a bar. Though there are three stories in the home, these stories contain seven levels with five bedrooms and five baths. The home also features a private library, catering kitchen, Nordic and downhill ski rooms, steam room, sauna, hot tub, three laundry facilities, three large sized car garages, outdoor living room with a fireplace and various covered decks and open patios. The architect and construction company plan to include as many as Colorado companies as possible such as James Sale Lighting as lighting consultant, Neils Lunceford for landscape design, Denver, Listen Up for low voltage, audio and video systems and Cindy Gray for interior design. The site of the house will contain 11 geothermal wells each having a depth of 400 ft which will be used for heating. According to Gallagher, the focus of the architect was to maintain connectivity and intimacy of the house despite its usage of large space.
