US based Detroit Elevator Company has announced that it has completed the renovation of Tower Plaza Hotel located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Tower Plaza was originally built in 1969 and consists of 26 stories and 298 units which have been occupied by professionals, students and other tenants.
The building has three original elevators. Detroit Elevator Company collaborated with O’Neal Construction and commenced the renovation project during June 2011. The company provided regular updates on the project in terms of new digital control system, refurbished elevator cabs, new door operating systems, and AC-based hoisting machinery during the entire course of the project.
The speed of the elevator has been increased to 400 ft/minute from 280 ft/minute. The new digital control system provides intelligent information more efficiently and at a faster rate to dispatch elevators as per requirement. The elevators use the new Traction Auxiliary Power System that will prevent tenants from being stranded in the elevator due to outage in power.
According to Don Purdie, who serves as the Jr. VP of the company, when there is a power outage the elevator will automatically move to the next floor enabling the occupants of the elevator to exit. Detroit Elevator Company provides repair, maintenance, service and modernisation services to all kinds and brands of elevators.
