Contra Costa Electric to Install Electrical Systems for Two New Transit Stations and Maintenance Facility

Contra Costa Electric, a subsidiary of Emcor Group, specialising in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities had received a contract to install all aspects of electrical systems for two new transit stations and a new maintenance facility for the Automated People Mover (APM) system which is part of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) running from BART Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station till Oakland International Airport in Oakland, California.

As per the contract, Contra Costa Electric will construct, coordinate and install all the electric systems for the two transit stations and maintenance facility. The APM has been particularly designed to transport passengers from BART Coliseum/Oakland Airport to Oakland International Airport covering a distance of 3.2 miles in eight minutes. The APM has 99% on-time performance. Contra Costa Electric will construct all the electric facilities for the project and manage all BIM models for all trades. It will also manage all low voltage construction including switchgear, security, communications, fire alarm, installation of station power, closed circuit TV systems, public address system, lighting and all other special systems. According to Michael Dias, President and CEO of Contra Costa Electric the completion of the project will enable the efficient and effective movement of passengers between BART Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station and Oakland International Airport. Emcor Group provides various services such as planning, installation, operation, maintenance and protection of advance and dynamic systems such as heating, security, air conditioning, mechanical and electrical.
