GlobalShopfitters’ construction division has recently completed the new Byron Bay development. The shopfitters division has developed the Quiksilver Apartments that sit above the new flagship store of Danny Wills and his wife Kirstle.
Danny Wills and Kirstle have enlarged their operations in Bryon Bay by adding a second store to their outlet called Danny Wills Quiksilver. The new flagship Quiksilver store, which measures 170 m2, is situated at 2 Jonson St., fronting Main Beach. The first outlet is located at 91 Jonson St.
The Quiksilver store, which opened last weekend, is operated by Kristie Wills. It occupies the ground-floor space of a renovated Queenslander and the second floor of the property accommodates two 60 m2 holiday apartments. The renovated Queenslander is situated on a site that measures 618 m2 and Bryon Bay Beach Hotel, a John van Haandel-associated company, holds the property, and Haandel bought it in mid-2007 along with the adjacent hotel for $16 million.
Quiksilver has a 10-year lease on the property. Global Shopfitters started work on the fit-out in November. The apartments and the store are situated just few blocks away from The Pass and The Wreck. The 2 two-bedroom apartments are available at $350 per night and they are being operated by atlanticbyronbay.com.au.
Greg Healy, Quiksilver Asia-Pacific’s president, reported that the opening of the new operation is an achievement for the company. Quiksilver stated that it had no plans for additional accommodation facilities and the apartments were a one-time venture.
