Benjamin West Chosen to Purchase FF+E and OS+E for 26-Hotel Project at Makkah

Benjamin West, an international furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) and operating supplies and equipment (OS&E) procurement company, has declared that it has been chosen for purchasing the FF&E and OS&E for a huge 26-hotel project, which is under construction at Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

This huge multi-million dollar project will be undertaken by Jabal Omar Development Company (JODC) and Benjamin West offices at Hong Kong, Boulder, London with assistance from the local office in Jeddah will coordinate with JODC for procurement.

The Marriott hotel with 455 rooms, the Hyatt Regency with 744 rooms, the Hilton Suites with 562 rooms, the Hilton Convention Hotel with 797 rooms and the Conrad with 637 rooms are the five hotels scheduled to be opened by 2013.

The JODC complex will be constructed surrounding the Grand Mosque, the holiest place for Muslims. The project will have 38 towers, which includes residential units that cover around 1,950,000 m² floor spaces with 58,000 m² for prayer space alone. In addition, it includes a conference hall with 2,000 seats and a retail concourse.

The global hotel brands such as Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton will be included in the complex and the entire hotel complex will have 40 food and beverage outlets with 11,535 keys. Over 10,000 items, ranging from unique antique pieces to 25,000 beds and 100,000 pillow cases, will be procured from 15 different countries.

Together, over 750,000 m² of carpeting and about 1.4 million lineal meters of vinyl wall covering will be required for the hotels. After completion of the project, the hotels will host 60,000 visitors per day and around 15 million visitors per year.
