Swinerton has announced that it has commenced construction of the $98 million High Desert Health System Multi Service Ambulatory Care Centre (MACC) complex. A formal ground breaking ceremony was recently conducted by the company.
Excavation for the foundation of the building and other utilities has been completed and all arrangements have been made for the installation of utility lines on the site and for pouring the footings. Swinerton will be responsible for the design and construction of the ambulatory facility which will consist of two floors covering an area of 142,000 sq.ft. The ambulatory facility, which accommodates a central facility, a separate one-story building for support and administrative services will form part of the facility along with other infrastructural improvements. Distinct features of the MACC complex include an urgent care clinic, a large size ambulatory surgical centre, ancillary diagnostic and treatment services, women’s clinic, surgical subspecialty clinics and an adult and paediatric primary care clinic.
The OSHPD-3 compliant project is likely to be handed over to the County of Los Angeles High Desert Health System by 2014. Soon after completion of the project, the company will seek LEED Gold certification since the new facility will use wind turbines for power generation and photo voltaic panels. Both the buildings reduce heat generation and use optimal and glare-free lighting in occupied spaces.
