Tennessee-based Crain Construction has received the National Excellence Award from Associated Builders and Contractors for its work on the Fiberweb Horizon Building project.
For the purpose of the eight month project, which included design and construction, the company combined pre-engineered and regular structural steel buildings to form an equipment platform covering an area of 52,750 sq.ft and a research and development centre for the manufacturing of short production runs. The construction company also provided other facilities such as filtered water, compressed air, chilled water, nitrogen and steam.
This is the 22nd award function and was judged by a panel of industry experts featuring the American Institute of Architects, Engineering News Record, Design-Build Institute of America, the National Association of Women in Construction and higher education representatives. The “Excellence in Construction” awards recognises engineers, architects, owners, contractors and other team members involved in the process of construction across the country. The winners are chosen on the basis of workmanship, cost of the project, safety, time taken to complete the project, attractiveness, complexity and innovation. According to the President of Crain Construction Michael Rankin, the award is proof of the way the company values its customers and is a result of the collaboration between the company and Fiberweb. Crain Construction provides services such as green construction, engineering, preconstruction, design and build and general construction management services to its clients.
