Skanska has announced that it has commenced construction of the second phase of the Green Horizon Project in Poland with an investment of EUR22 million. The second phase of the project covers an area of 14,000 sq.m.
This combined with the area that was covered in the first phase will amount to a total leasable area of 33,000 sq.m. The construction of the first phase commenced in March 2011. Construction on the second phase is expected to begin by March 2012 and is likely to be completed by the second quarter of 2013.
Approximately 97% of the office space, which is part of the first phase has already been leased by Infosys BPO Poland and Skanska Poland. The building has a seven story scheme of which the ground floor will be used for service points, retail stores, a restaurant and catering facilities. The project has also received LEED Gold precertification since it has incorporated green energy solutions such as free cooling system, usage of warm air from the offices to heat up the garages, parking spaces for cyclists and an efficient water and wastage management system.
The operations of Skanska are focused on areas like the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary. Skanska Commercial Development Europe is responsible for initiating and developing projects in commercial buildings, logistics and offices.
