Corning to Display Advanced Glass Technologies in FPD China 2012

Corning has announced that it will display its latest glass technologies at the FPD China 2012 which is to be held from March 20 to22 at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre. As part of its display, the company will exhibit its Corning Lotus Glass which is used for high performance displays, EAGLE XG Slim Glass Substrates, Corning Gorilla Glass and its ultra-slim flexible glass.

The company’s Gorilla glass is now being used by 33 brands on more than 600 product models. Over 600 million devices all over the world have been fitted with this glass, which is a damage-resistant cover glass for consumer electronic devices. This Gorilla glass also helps in reducing the thickness of the glass by 20%.

Visitors will also be educated about the various attributes of Corning Lotus Glass, which facilitates organic light-emitting diode displays and next-generation liquid crystal displays. The China FPD conference will also be conducted along with the exhibition.

According to the President of Corning Display Technologies China, Li Fang the consumer electronic industry is now more focussed on creating large screen sizes with higher resolutions that are thinner and better in terms of performance. He also added that the company is in the process of setting up a new full LCD glass substrate facility with glass melting and finishing capabilities in Beijing. Production from this facility is likely to commence by the latter half of 2012.
