NorthGrid Solar Constructs 701kW Rooftop Solar Project

Canadian procurement and construction company NorthGrid Solar has announced that it has constructed a 701 kW rooftop solar project in Ontario as part of the Ontario Power Authority’s Feed in Tariff Programme.

Metro Tea Construction (CNW Group/NorthGrid Solar Inc.)

This project will be located at the Metropolitan Tea Company in Etobicoke, Ontario. The company will use its Elevated Truss System (ETS) for the project which is useful particularly for buildings that have rooftop units which cause shading or rooftops which do not support ballasted solar energy systems. The ETS provides continuous roof access and helps in the optimal performance of the system for the owner of the building.

The ETS system of the company and the pre-assembly process was used to install total number of panels amounting to 701kW within a period of 7 days. This also resulted in minimal wear and tear on the roof. According to the President and CEO of Metropolitan Tea Company Gerry Vandergrift, the company is highly pleased with the end-to-end focus on customer satisfaction from NorthGrid Solar and the employment of highly technical and professional processes for the construction. NorthGrid Solar is scheduled to complete many such roof top solar installations and ballast projects through the use of ETS in Ontario.

According to the President and CEO of NorthGrid Solar, Carlo Di Gioacchino, NorthGrid is glad to be able to work with Metro Tea, a leading supplier and importer of teas and tea-related products. Since the company strives to achieve environmental sustainability, Metro Tea is a perfect fit for the Ontario Green Energy program, he added.
