Couture Homes, a luxury home builder, has declared the completion of a luxury house at Old Palm which is first of a kind to receive Green Certification from NAHB’s National Green Building Standard in Palm Beach County.
This certification is issued for the first time for a luxury house in the country. The interior space of the house is about 7467 sq.ft and the overall space under the roof is about 9751 sq.ft.
NAHB’s National Green Building Program provides certification to houses via a long process for application followed by on-site inspections. The certification is issued after thorough analysis of a home’s green elements and other systems starting from the indoor quality of air and the efficacy of HVAC to the material procurement for a house.
Acquiring NAHB’s Green Certification for Couture’s Old Palm house with a “conditioned space” is an outstanding achievement for construction with quality. The company has constructed the house in just 165 days, which is three times quicker when compared to other construction companies. The company has not compromised in quality even though it completed the building faster.
The co-founder of Couture Homes, Todd Ullom stated that while starting the construction in a land of one acre, the house was modeled to take north-south orientation which minimizes the load of cooling and around a dozen trees were relocated. The indoor and outdoor living space were constructed with bigger loggia and soffits which also covered the glass from the sun. Double-pane low-e Andersen HPI windows were used for the house and the attic sealing was done using foam insulation.
The company used low amount of VOC paints and the hardwood was recycled. The HVAC system cooled an area about 7500 sq.ft which regularly cools about 5500 sq.ft. These efficacies together yielded a better home for living and considered to be one of the most energy efficient green homes in the country.
