The newly renovated 46,000 sq.ft headquarters of Tremco, a subsidiary of RPM International, has received LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.
The building received 72 points for its effective usage of energy. Features incorporated in the building include four types of sustainable roofing from Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance, a Dryvit Systems Outsulation Plus MD exterior wall system, proglaze, gaskets and sealants from Tremco Commercial Sealants and waterproofing, double pane tinted windows and new sidewalks with decorative concrete.
Other features include a wind turbine, a new photovoltaic array for generation of electricity, a water capture and reuse system with a capacity of 15,000 gal, implementation of ADA compliant elevator and restrooms, upgraded mechanical, electrical and plumbing works, high efficiency HVAC system and other plumbing features to ensure water saving. All the renovation works were completed within a period of six months and all the debris arising from the construction works was recycled. Most of the features installed in the building have come from other companies in the RPM International group. The building is 40 years old and the certification has been awarded for new construction rather than renovation since the installation of energy efficient features has been extensive.
