US based law firm McCarter & English has received LEED Gold and Silver certifications for its newly renovated office in Newark.
The certification has been awarded by the US Green Building Council and has been verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. The Newark office of the company has received the certification for its efficient usage of energy, water, lighting and materials and using various sustainable strategies in the design of the building. The renovation of the office was done by global architecture, design and planning company, Gensler.
Apart from the certification, four attorneys of the law firm have been designated as LEED Accredited Professionals by the US Green Building Council due to their high knowledge levels in the procedures and practices used for LEED certification. The Newark office of the firm received LEED Gold certification for its practice floors and Silver rating for its Conference Centre. Features of the office that were considered for certification were paper recycling, waste management system, green power, low VOC paints and coatings, re usage of materials, advanced lighting systems and water efficiency. LEED certified building help in saving money for taxpayers, families and businesses by reducing greenhouse emissions and contributing to the conservation of the environment and to the community at large.
