HDR to Conduct Utility Study for the I-710 North Corridor Project

HDR, specialising in consulting, construction, engineering and architecture has been chosen by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) to conduct the I-710 Corridor Project North Utility Study.

This is part of Los Angeles Metro’s efforts to enhance the I-710 corridor in response to increasing traffic, increased growth in population, and increased volume of cargo container at the Long Beach port and at the Los Angeles port.

The Long Beach Freeway, which is also called the I-710 corridor serves as the main transportation line between the Long Beach port and the Los Angeles port. The corridor links these ports to distribution centres in South California and other intermodal rail facilities. Since the corridor transports both goods and passengers it is one of the most important transportation both in the state and in the country. According to the agreement, HDR will provide advance planning studies and utility relocation strategy to that part of the I-710 segment which stretches from the northern part of Los Angeles River to the SR 60 freeway. As part of the work, HDR will provide geometric design for the freight corridor that has been planned, analysis of river hydraulics and relocation strategies for electric transmission lines in the Los Angeles corridor. HDR will be given clearance to proceed from February 21.
