Bentley Systems has recently declared two major initiatives to sustain the construction phase of Europe’s major construction project, Crossrail. The initiatives accentuate integrating the entire Crossrail supply chain to promote best practices in information modelling for construction enterprise.
The project is based on U.K.’s Government Construction Strategy, which focuses on substituting adversarial cultures with that of collaborative factors.
The declarations made by Bentley at the recent Crossrail Tier 1 Contractor Briefing at its U.K. HQ include:
- The Enterprise License Subscription (ELS) of Crossrail for the application software portfolio of Bentley will be expanded to support the extended Crossrail enterprise that currently includes its Tier 1 contractors. The project participants, through Crossrail’s ELS, can have better access to eB software for controlling project data and the ProjectWise system of collaboration servers and services.
- Through new applications of Building Information Modelling (BIM) for the Crossrail construction phase, the Crossrail extended enterprise will be supported by the recently chartered Crossrail/Bentley Construction/BIM Academy. Based on Crossrail’s objectives of increased safety, efficiency, and cost savings, the new academy will facilitate the participants to understand the advantages of advanced technology and its ideal deployments.
These two initiatives form the primary part of an agreement between Bentley and Crossrail. By devising a project role for a strategic technology partner, the initiatives supplement the proposed target of BS1192, the British standard for collaborative production of information. Bentley’s partnership with Crossrail for its construction enterprise will therefore lead to improvements in business processes and information modeling.
